  • NorCal Stop the Hate is a regional initiative focused on addressing hate incidents and supporting impacted communities across Northern California. We’re part of the broader State wide Stop the Hate movement, working locally to make sure voices are heard, stories are seen, and change starts here.

This program is funded through the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Stop the Hate Initiative, which provides grants to community-based organizations across the state. The Chico Area Interfaith Council (CAIC), along with our local partners, received these funds to support education, prevention, and intervention efforts that build unity, address hate incidents, and provide healing resources for impacted communities in Butte and Glenn counties.

  • These are real stories from people across our North State region who’ve experienced bias, discrimination, or hate. Each video helps shine a light on what many live with every day, often quietly. By sharing these stories, we’re building understanding and encouraging viewers to take meaningful steps in their own lives and communities.

  • If it’s an emergency, always call 911 first. For non-emergencies or ongoing concerns, report the incident through our Northern California resource network at https://www.cavshate.org/ or connect with one of our partner organizations. You don’t have to be certain something was a hate incident—if it felt wrong, speak up. Your report helps create a safer, more responsive community.

  • Everyone. Whether you’ve experienced hate yourself or want to be part of the solution, you have a role here. This initiative supports survivors, uplifts community voices, and gives allies tools to step in and stand up.

  • Use your voice. Talk to your kids. Interrupt bias when you see it. Ask questions, stay open, and support people who may carry these experiences silently. If you’re ready to get involved, reach out to a partner group in your area or email us directly.
